Live with Andy and Kelly

I did Live! today. As sometimes happens, Regis was on vacation. I usually don't find out until the day of. I think the staff is conditioned to downplay Regis's vacations in case guests cancel. As it happens, Andy Richter, Regis's guest host, was great. Very funny and actually interested in the stuff. Kelly was her usual gracious and warm self. They've already asked me to plan another appearance in February. Henry went with me this time. He took some pictures, yesterday during rehearsal. This is of the audience area - but, of course, there's no one there when we rehearse.

I shot this video of Henry testing out the Karaoke machine.

Andy and Kelly had a great time with the karaoke machine. They also liked the Roomba robot vacuum and the Piano Avanti. Here's a complete list of products I demoed on WNN and Live...

Upcoming Appearances

Happy Holidays, everyone! I'll be on the Allan Handelman show for half an hour tonight at 10:30p Eastern time. Listen on one of his many stations or on his web site at alhandelman.com. I'm doing the Ronn Owens Show on KGO, 810 AM in San Francisco, Friday, January 3 at 10am. We're heading to Las Vegas to cover CES January 9-11. I'll be signing autographs in the Grand Lobby of the Las Vegas Convention Center from 4-5p on Thursday, January 9,and from 3-5p on Saturday, January 11. Cat, Morgan, and Patrick will be there, too, at various times. We'll also be doing live show feeds for The Screen Savers, Friday, January 10, at 4p Pacific. You don't need admission to CES to visit us, so stop on by. You know how we love a live audience! Meanwhile, I've been doing some Tivo hacking during my vacation, with some interesting (and ultimately disappointing) results. I'll do a full write up in the next couple of days. We're celebrating Christmas at home then Jennifer is taking the kids to her folks for a few days. That should give me some time to work on the Tivo more seriously. The goal is to be able to get my Sopranos episodes onto DVD as a fully digital copy. If I can get it to work, and I can get the lawyers to say OK, I'll demo it on TSS in the new year.

Playtime is Over

Several people at my speech Monday at the Golden Gate Computer Society have asked me to post my slides. I don't usually do Powerpoint - especially when giving a speech slamming Microsoft - but I didn't have a copy of Keynote for my Mac yet, and I really needed the crib notes. Click the thumbnail for the PPT file.

The Missing Segment

Little ReegIt was a whole month ago that I taped a segment for Live with Regis and Kelly. This is the seventh time I've appeared on the show since October 2001, and the first time my segment didn't air either live or the very next day. This time I taped with Regis alone (even though Kelly was there) on the theory that Kelly would be soon having her baby and the segment could air when she did. Well she had her baby last Tuesday and I still haven't heard from the show. I'm hoping they'll air it this week. I brought some very cool stuff along including an electric car (which Regis drove), Sanyo's camera phone, a portable DirecTV dish, an XM boombox, the Vapir digital cigarette, and a toilet night light. At this point I'm very afraid they're going to can the segment - there's nothing staler than old TV. A similar thing happened to me a couple of years back on Weekend Today. The piece never aired and I never went back. I guess I'll swallow my pride and call Gelman on Monday.

Live Lives!

I just got word that Live with Regis and Kelly will finally air the segment I taped for them in February. It's scheduled to air this Friday, March 21. And I'll probably go back and do another show with them in June. They like me. They really like me.
